Lee and I both have a pretty ersatz approach to most celebrations–even each other’s birthdays we’re not so great at…but for some reason, the kids have been *really* into Valentine’s Day!
*
We got off to a bit of a rough start, when yesterday Lee presented me with a large saucisson (haha, yes, the abundant double-entendres). I was less than enthused (“but it’s your favourite kind”). I figured that was it, but then this morning, I woke up to a gorgeous single red rose, and lovely cards from Horus and Treva.

After bacon and eggs and chickpea salad, we had a kitchen dance-party, and Horus came up to me and whispered in my ear “now would be a good time for you to smooch dad”, so I had to oblige.

We were going to go for a walk–it’s gorgeous and bright out there, but I think instead we might just wander out into the yard for a few minutes, as it’s one of the coldest days of the year, and I’m not sure I can handle it. My heart is already in the spring.
