So many adventures! The beach, the park, the incredible storm that took out power all over the city, and the Capilano Suspension bridge, which I did not cross, no thank you. Instead, Cosmo and I had a great time among the Coast Salish story poles. We people-watched with abandon, and conversed with the giant bear, while Lee and the kids played Ewok and the rain made its fickle appearances and retreats, Vancouver-style. The next day, I decided that since Horus has been behaving so psychotically towards his little sister since our arrival, that I would take him on his own, to church with mum and Gramps, at Gramps’ request. Horus grumbled and scowled a bit in the car, but we ended up having a lovely time, and ran some errands for the rest of the afternoon, including a sushi date, during which Horus mastered, perfectly, the use of chopsticks, to his delight and mine. After lunch, we popped into one of the billions of Vancouver shops full of irrelevant expensive things, and when the shopkeeper was hostile towards Horus for touching something in the matter that any responsible adult would have done, I politely asked her if it was really necessary to be so miserably rude to my son, and then I took her name down when she asked me in return if it was necessary for me to have a child who was clearly intent on breaking things that didn’t belong to him (which he was not). Gosh I love that kid. When the little ones were in bed, I went back to my dad’s house to organize more piles of antlers and books on archaeology, but instead we ended up watching PBS, and gossiping about various family members. Goodnight everyone!
