Well, Not exactly, ha. Then again, here we are!! Actually, I think we’re doing quite well. The other day, after pulling over on the side of the road to talk to Lee about something on the phone, Treva said, “Mum, do you have a crush on dad??!”. “Well,” I said, “Yeah! Yes I do!”
She laughed uproariously at that, and chortled, “I knew it!!!” So I guess that’s as good a sign as any that things are ok. After all, kids really know what’s up. I don’t think it’s possible to hide even the mildest discord from a child of any age (even little ones). Not to say that discord is always bad, or awful. Apparently it’s not absence of conflict that creates a healthy environment for children, but rather an example of engaging in conflict respectfully, and of modelling a willingness to acknowledge wrongdoing, to apologize, and to resolve the conflict lovingly–and this makes sense to me. In any case, nine years is impressive (I think!). We still love each other. It’s a good thing to have a crush on one’s husband, I suppose.
We went for a glorious walk in the wet woods on our anniversary, in the company of dear friends. The blackberries were out. Isn’t it amazing how everything changes, always? We are so lucky.
