Welcome to this new space–and just as we are about to welcome our new one–my fifth child, and the third baby for our family. I am in the deep drift of late pregnancy, tethered to the world by too many commitments. Somehow, my vow to let everything slip away has been compromised…by life itself. Nothing seems to unfold as planned, but we ride the waves. Our kiln is nearly complete, and I will be setting my birth pool next to the firebox. Stoking between sensations sounds quite nice. It is tricky, fitting behind the pottery wheel, but I manage.
Horus and Treva are excited, and now routinely request to see birth videos on youtube…I am judicious. I’d rather they didn’t see anything inappropriate–like too many hands touching, or too many mouths speaking. It is rare that any birth I see online lives up to my exacting standards. Witnessing a new person being assaulted with the bulb syringe before even fully exiting the birth canal for example, will definitely make me cry.
During the past few weeks, I have, I admit, allowed my daily Pilates practice to falter, and my hips, especially, are bearing the brunt. I am unwieldy and out of breath, but I refuse to complain about the heat. This is nothing compared to the arid August in Knowlesville two years ago, before Treva was born in early September. Also, our New Brunswick winters are too frigid for me not to make the best of humid days and warm thunderstorms. I love it, actually.
I haven’t quite mapped out my plan for this new website, but I do hope for a little bit more form, function, and consistency than its previous incarnation–although I will be leaving the old bauhauswife site up, for now, anyway.
So, Hello, again. Thanks for visiting, and we’ll see you soon.
